While UW has yet to release details of its spring football practice dates, a roundup on the Pac-12 Conference web site today reported that the game will be held on April 20 at 4 p.m. (the original Pac-12 post said the game would be held at Memorial Stadium but that has since been removed with no site given. The game won’t be at Husky Stadium with renovation there still ongoing).
The later time is surely for TV reasons as Pac-12 spring games are likely this year to be televised on the Pac-12 Networks — you can see in the link that Washington State’s is at 2 p.m. that same day.
As noted, UW has yet to release details on spring practice.
But UW coach Steve Sarkisian dropped a hint on Wednesday that spring practice may starter earlier than usual. In talking about kicker Cameron Van Winkle enrolling in time for the spring quarter, Sarkisian noted that would give Van Winkle nine spring practices (Van Winkle is the only 2013 signee expected to enroll in time for spring, with QB Troy Williams and S Trevor Walker having already enrolled).
Typically, UW has started spring practice after the conclusion of winter quarter and at the beginning of the spring quarter. Sarkisian’s comment seemed to imply spring practice may begin a week or two prior to the ending of winter quarter — winter quarter ends March 18-22 and spring quarter begins April 1 (calendar here).
