Audio — Justin Wilcox on 1080 AM

Here is a link to the audio of an interview today with UW defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox on 1070 The Fan in Portland, the same station for which his brother, Josh, has a show.

There was a lot of talk about the family connections and almost nothing specific to UW football, but here are a few  items of interest:

— Asked what would be needed for the UW defense to be as good in 2013 as it was in 2012, Wilcox said: “Wor us to play as good as we possibly can and make sure that our guys are confident in what they are doing and that we put them in positions to be succcesful and give them the tools and fundamentals to make plays and understand what our strengths and weaknessess are because everybody’s got them.”

— And asked if he ever thinks about what it would be like to be a head coach, he said “no.” Pressed on that, he said it “goes back to that same thing we were talking about (earlier in the show) in our profession the only thing you can really do is work on what you are doing today.”

Also, UW coach Steve Sarkisian is scheduled to be a guest Friday morning on KJR-AM 950 with Mitch in the Morning.
