Desmond Trufant is among the defensive backs running the 40 this morning at the NFL Combine.
In his first attempt he clocked at 4.31, which tied him as the second-fastest behind only the 4.25 of Steve Williams of Cal (the others at 4.31 were Alabama’s Dee Milliner and Darius Slay of Mississippi State).
Trufant then clocked a 4.38 in his second attempt. UPDATE, 9:55 a.m. — The NFL just Tweeted that Trufant’s official time will be 4.38.

Afterward, NFL TV analyst Mike Mayock said there were two questions about Trufant entering the Combine: “is he fast enough and is he consistently physical? I think he answered the first one.”
Trufant had a good week at the Senior Bowl last month, and only helped himself more with his performance here — he also had 16 bench press reps to rank among the top DBs in that category.
