Trufant runs a 4.38 in the 40 at the Combine
Desmond Trufant is among the defensive backs running the 40 this morning at the NFL Combine.
In his first attempt he clocked at 4.31, which tied him as the second-fastest behind only the 4.25 of Steve Williams of Cal (the others at 4.31 were Alabama’s Dee Milliner and Darius Slay of Mississippi State).
Trufant then clocked a 4.38 in his second attempt. UPDATE, 9:55 a.m. — The NFL just Tweeted that Trufant’s official time will be 4.38.

Afterward, NFL TV analyst Mike Mayock said there were two questions about Trufant entering the Combine: “is he fast enough and is he consistently physical? I thinkĀ he answered the first one.”
Trufant had a good week at the Senior Bowl last month, and only helped himself more with his performance here — he also had 16 bench press reps to rank among the top DBs in that category.
