Not really the week when college football is front and center, obviously. But there are still a few things out there to pass along. …
— And we’ll start with a story from the ESPN Pac-12 blog on Shaq Thompson and his thoughts on what he can do to improve in 2013. As I wrote last week, Thompson has headed off for a week or so to the Boston Red Sox minor league spring training camp.
— SI.com, meanwhile, has a lengthy story on the challenge faced by Steve Sarkisian and Keith Price to get UW to contending status in the Pac-12 this season.
— The ESPN guys also have a roundup of weekend news and notes from around the Pac-12, including updates on the QB situations at Cal and USC (which each look to have no clear answer for a while).
— NFL draft analyst Pat Kirwan of CBSSports.com has Tampa Bay taking Desmond Trufant with the 13th pick. If that were to reallyh happen, the Bucs would have four of UW’s most noteworthy defensive players of the last decade on their roster — already witih Tampa Bay are Mason Foster, Dashon Goldson (who signed last week) and Daniel Te’o-Nesheim. And as noted last week, Tampa Bay plays the Seahawks in Seattle in 2013 (dates of games, though, have yet to be announced).
— CBSSports.com also has a video interview of Trufant.
— The Idaho Statesman has a look at what some of Boise State’s star defenders are working on this spring, including DE Demarcus Lawrence, who was suspended for the Las Vegas Bowl.
— Some thoughts on Arizona State’s receivers as spring practice looms for the Sun Devils.
— Scout.com’s Stanford site with lots of stuff on the Cardinal.
— ESPN’s Ivan Maisel highlights the challenges of some first-year coaches, including Colorado’s Mike MacIntyre.
— Sounds like Oregon State also plans to add some no-huddle to its offense this spring.
— And also sounds like Utah and new co-offensive coordinator Dennis Erickson will go with some more hurry-up offense, as well.
