Thompson giving up baseball?

UW linebacker Shaq Thompson said last spring he planned to keep pursuing a pro baseball career.

But according to this report from Full Count, Thompson has decided he will  not play baseball any more, apparently deciding to concentrate on football.

The story doesn’t cite a source or quote Thompson. But as both of the linked stories note, Thompson had some attention-getting struggles  last summer when he played in the Red Sox organization, going 0-39 at the plate with 37 strikeouts. He had received a $45,000 bonus after being taken in the 18th round of the draft, and could have reportedly  made $100,ooo over four years.

Thompson is already being regarded by some as a possible first-round NFL pick as early as the 2015 NFL Draft, when he would  be a third-year junior and eligible.
