Four-star receiver Erik Brown commits to the Huskies

Four-star receiver Erik Brown has committed to Washington.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Fontana, Calif., native made his announcement this evening at Nike’s The Opening camp during a broadcast on ESPNU.

“I have a great relationship with Coach Sark and Coach (Eric) Kiesau,” Brown told ESPNU. “I love it up there, I love the environment.”

Brown was asked how much the new Husky Stadium played into his decision. “Very little,” he said. “It’s beautiful, it’s beautiful, don’t get me wrong. But that played very little into my decision about where I want to be for the next four years.

Asked to describe his strengths, Brown said: “Speed. Size. Catch everything.”

Brown is the cousin of former Oregon receiver Devon Blackmon, according to Scout.com. Blackmon left Oregon last year and has been linked as a possible transfer to UW.

Brown, who attended UW’s Rising Stars camp last week, is the sixth recruit to commit to the Huskies in the past four days.

For the class of 2014, four-star cornerback Jonathan Lockett (Santa Ana, Calif.) committed to UW on Saturday, as did Eastlake High safety/linebacker Drew Lewis and safety Lavon Washington of Oakland.

For the class of 2015, Wenatchee offensive lineman Trey Adams and Joseph Wicker of Long Beach, Calif., also made verbal commitments over the weekend.
