Bellevue’s ‘Budda’ Baker impresses at prestigious Nike camp

At this point, the recruiting buzz is that a decision by Bellevue’s “Budda” Baker might ultimately come down to Washington and Oregon.

Baker, considered by some to be the top recruit in the Northwest, was one of the standouts at the prestigious Nike camp The Opening this week in Beaverton, Ore. A two-way and two-sport star for Bellevue, he surprised some with his ability as a receiver in 7-on-7 games at the camp. But most project him as a defensive back in college, and he says he prefers to play defense.

UCLA, Arizona State and Notre Dame are also in the mix, Baker told Scout.com.

He plans to make his decision after the season, and you never know for sure how these things will play out before February signing day. But Baker’s recruitment is one that we’ll certainly monitor throughout the season.
