Afternoon links: Huskies rising in recruiting rankings

The Huskies had a nice run of recruiting commitments a couple weeks ago and the result has been a bump in the national recruiting rankings, up to No. 50 in the 247sports.com.

UW has seven commitments so far, and it’s still very early; nothing to get really worked up about. It’s worth noting that the 247sports guys see the Huskies as having an “excellent” shot at landing two more four-star recruits. UW has consistently landed top-25 classes the past few years, and there’s no reason to think to that won’t continue on to 2014.

The UW Dawg Pound blog has a good breakdown of Bishop Sankey’s 61-yard touchdown run against Stanford last fall. I expect we will see at least a few more of those kind of runs this season.

I agree with Ted Miller: Where’s Kasen Williams on the Biletnikoff Award watch list?

The SEC media days (yes, days!) kicked off today, and SEC commissioner Mike Slive is reopening talks about offering athletes total cost of attendance, among other topics.
