Washington’s Bishop Sankey was named today to the watch list for the Doak Walker Award, presented to the nation’s top running back.

The junior from Spokane had a breakthrough season in 2012, rushing for 1,439 yards — the third-most in school history — and 16 touchdowns.

The watch list included 63 players in all, nine from the Pac-12: Sankey, Cal’s Brendan Bigelow, Arizona’s Ka’Deem Carey, Arizona State’s D.J. Foster, Arizona State’s Marion Grice, Colorado’s Christian Powell, USC’s Silas Redd, Oregon’s De’Anthony Thomas and Oregon State’s Storm Woods.

Greg Lewis, in 1990, was the last UW tailback to win the Doak Walker.
