Former Washington receiver Luther Leonard, 23, was arrested Monday in connection to a July 1 armed bank robbery in Newcastle.
Leonard is being held on $100,000 bail. His alleged accomplice, Jeffrey Pool, 48, is a fugitive from Texas sought on bank robberies there. Pool is being held on $1 million bail.
A touted dual-threat quarterback coming out of Burien’s Evergreen High School in 2008, Leonard was eventually moved to receiver and spent much of his UW career on the scout team. He appeared in just two games for the Huskies as a senior in 2011.
“The thing about life is you’ve got to adjust,” Leonard told The Seattle Times in 2011. “When you come into college, your goal — everyone’s goal — is to go to the NFL and be a first-round draft pick. But, you know, when life gives lemons, you’ve got to make lemon juice.”
