Washington’s fall camp practices will be closed to the public, UW announced on Tuesday, citing “space and safety issues” related to the ongoing construction at new Husky Stadium.
Going forward, UW announced that “certain” spring practices in 2014 and future fall camp practices will be designated as open to the public.
Also: “Beginning with the Aug. 19 practice, the first 20 minutes of practices on Tuesday and Wednesday will be accessible to the press (Monday, Aug. 19 also falls in the same category). Coach Sarkisian will hold a press conference each Monday at noon, beginning on Aug. 26. Players and assistant coaches will be available after practices on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Coach Sarkisian will speak to the press for the last time each week following Thursday’s practice, which will be closed as it has been in the past. …
“Newcomers to the team are not available for media interviews until otherwise announced. Players who are not fully participating in practice are also not available.”
On injuries: “Members of the press are welcome to report on any observations made during those 20 minutes, including injury-related observations. However, players, coaches and athletic communications staff will not address the specific nature of injuries.”
UW also announced a media tour of new Husky Stadium will be held on Aug. 22.
