Report: UW’s Seferian-Jenkins has served his day in jail

Washington All-American candidate Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence earlier this month, has served his sentence of one day in jail, the junior tight end told the Renton Reporter.

Seferian-Jenkins talked to the Renton newspaper while at a youth football practice on Monday. A UW spokesman said Seferian-Jenkins would not be available for additional interviews before the start of fall camp on Aug. 5.

After his March arrest, Seferian-Jenkins, 20, was suspended from team activities during the spring. UW coach Steve Sarkisian is expected to address Seferian-Jenkins’ status with the team at Pac-12 Media Day on Friday in Los Angeles.

The Huskies open the 2013 season against Boise State at new Husky Stadium on Aug. 31.
