Huskies get commitment from Idaho offensive lineman

Washington received a verbal commitment Tuesday evening from Coeur d’Alene offensive lineman Matt James, multiple recruiting services have reported.

James is a bit of an unheralded recruit, it seems. Scout.com rates James as a three-star recruit, but he’s not rated by either 247sports.com or Rivals.

James, listed at 6-5 and 275 pounds (according to 247sports), is teammates of fellow UW commit Chase Blakley, a tight end. James is the Huskies’ eighth known commitment for the Class of 2014, and third from Idaho (joining Blakley and defensive end Don Hill of Boise).

Also Tuesday, the Huskies reportedly made an offer to quarterback Jake Browning of Folsom, Calif., for the Class of 2015. Browning, who matched a national record with 10 touchdown passes in his varsity debut as a sophomore last season, was also offered by Washington State this week; his father, Ed, played quarterback at Oregon State.
