After their bye week, the Huskies (1-0) moved up to No. 19 in the AP poll this morning, their highest ranking of the Steve Sarkisian era.
It’s also the first time in 10 years that UW has been ranked in consecutive weeks in the AP poll. In 2003, UW was No. 18 on Sept. 21 and Sept. 28 before a 46-16 loss at UCLA on Oct. 4, 2003.
Also this morning, the Huskies opened as a 7.5-point favorite against Illinois. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. PT Saturday at Chicago’s Soldier Field for a broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
USC dropped out of the polls after its stunning loss to Washington State in L.A. on Saturday night.
Here’s the full AP poll. Two voters do not have UW on their ballots, and the Huskies are ranked as high as No. 10 by one voter.
The Huskies remained at No. 23 in the USA Today coaches’ poll.
