Notes and video from UW’s Justin Wilcox after Tuesday’s practice

In prepping for the Illinois offense, UW defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox has a cutup of about 120 trick or “issue” plays, many from Western Michigan.

“It’s a big reel,” Wilcox said. “It’s one of those deals where everyone says, ‘Oh, you better be ready for the trick play.’ Well … no kidding.”

Why Western Michigan?

New Illinois offensive coordinator Bill Cubit was the head coach at Western Michigan from 2005 to 2012, and his “versatile” attack has reinvigorated Illinois senior QB Nathan Scheelhaase and the Illini offense. Illinois is 2-0 after a surprising 45-17 rout of Cincinnati last week.
