Another great day in the desert. It will be a great matchup this afternoon at Sun Devil Stadium, too. Feels like one of those games where one big play or one untimely turnover or one significant special-teams return will be the difference.
— My story from Tempe, setting the scene before kickoff.
— From The News Tribune: UW looks to end seven-game skid against ASU.
— Good read from the Arizona Republic on the head-set battle between UW defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox and Arizona State offensive coordinator Mike Norvell, two of the Pac-12’s top young assistants.
— And the Arizona Republic’s Doug Haller predicts a 34-31 ASU win.
From ArizonaSports.com, here’s ASU coach Todd Graham on UW’s Keith Price:
“He has an understanding that he has a lot of talent around him and he utilizes them,” Graham said. “I’ll be honest with you, the most talented team we’ve played to this point is USC, physically and (Washington) is right there with them. The receivers, the running backs, they’re that talented.”
But Graham didn’t shy away from sharing his formula to a Sun Devil victory.
“That’s the key to the game, can we get (Price) rattled? Can we force turnovers, can we do those things,” he asked before again talking about Price’s slippery nature.
“The way he extends plays is the challenge. You’ve got to stay on your man, you can’t give up any cheap ones.”
