UW announces details for Don James memorial service, tributes

The University of Washington will host a Don James memorial service at 3 p.m. Sunday at Alaska Airlines Arena. The service is open to the public.

For UW’s game against California at 8 p.m. Saturday, members of the James family will serve as honorary captains for the pre-game coin toss.

In addition:

— UW players will wear helmet decals for the remainder of the 2013 season.

— UW coaches will wear a similar patch on the sideline.

— At halftime, the Husky Marching Band will perform “A Tribute to The Dawgfather,” including a memorial video and former UW players.

— The annual homecoming “Blanket Parade” involving former UW letterwinners, traditionally held at halftime, will now be part of the pre-game ceremonies.

— Other remembrances may also be added once details are worked out this week.
