UW’s Bishop Sankey a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award

Washington running back Bishop Sankey was named Thursday one of 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s top running back as selected by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors.

Sankey, a junior, is third in the nation with 1,305 yards rushing this season, and his 13 touchdowns are tied for fifth.

UW’s Greg Lewis was the first recipient of the Doak Walker Award in 1990.

The semifinalists announced Thursday:

Ameer Abdullah, Nebraska
Antonio Andrews, Western Kentucky
Ka’Deem Carey, Arizona
Mike Davis, South Carolina
Tyler Gaffney, Stanford
Melvin Gordon, Wisconsin
Tre Mason, Auburn
Bishop Sankey, Washington
Lache Seastrunk, Baylor
Andre Williams, Boston College
