Four-star running back recruit Austin Joyner from Marysville-Pilchuck gave a verbal commitment on Tuesday to join Washington’s Class of 2015.
“Every time I go down there, it’s like a family environment with the coaches,” Joyner told The Seattle Times Tuesday night. “They are real psyched about me … and it’s a really good vibe every time I go there. So why wait?”
Joyner called UW coach Steve Sarkisian on Tuesday evening to inform him of his decision.
“He was extremely exited,” Joyner said. “He was yelling all kinds of stuff. He wanted to go run around the tell the rest of the staff.”
Among Pac-12 schools, Joyner also has offers from Washington State and Oregon State.
Joyner is UW’s third known commitment for the Class of 2015, joining Wenatchee offensive lineman Trey Adams and defensive lineman Jacob Daniel of Fresno, Calif., who committed last week.
Verbal commitments are non-binding.
