UW players blindsided by Sarkisian’s departure to USC

Washington coach Steve Sarkisian is leaving for USC, The Seattle Times has confirmed, and his imminent departure was a surprise to many UW players on Monday.

More shocking is that Sarkisian is apparently trying to take “everybody” from the UW staff with him to USC, one player told The Seattle Times.

“Well, almost everybody,” said the player, who asked to remain anonymous.

A team meeting is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, several players confirmed.

The Los Angeles Daily News is reporting that Sarkisian wants to bring UW defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox and defensive line coach Tosh Lupoi with him to USC.

It remains unclear who will coach UW in a bowl game later this month.

Many UW players took to Twitter after reports surfaced that Sarkisian was leaving for USC:
