Chris Petersen guaranteed $4 million in final year of deal with UW

Here’s a PDF of the Memorandum of Understanding and a few bullet points on the five-year deal Chris Petersen signed with Washington on Dec. 5:

Annual guaranteed compensation:

$3.2 million from Dec. 6 to Jan. 31, 2015

— $3.4 million from Feb. 1, 2015 to Jan. 31, 2016

— $3.6 million from Feb. 1, 2016 to Jan. 31, 2017

— $3.8 million from Feb. 1, 2017 to Jan. 31, 2018

— $4 million from Feb. 1, 2018 to Jan. 31, 2019

Bonuses:

— Pac-12 championship game appearance: $50,000

— Pac-12 champion: $100,000

— Non-College Football Playoff bowl appearances: $150,000 for Alamo or Holiday bowls; $75,000 for any other non-CFP bowl.

— CFP bowl appearance: $300,000

— CFP semifinal game: $400,000

— CFP championship game appearance: $450,000 (or … )

— CFP champion: $500,000

Bonuses for academic performance:

— Academic Progress Rate of 950: $50,000

— APR of 960: $75,000

— APR of 970: $125,000

Buyouts:

— UW agrees to pay the $750,000 of Petersen’s contract with Boise State.

— Petersen’s UW buyout is $3 million in the first year, down to $1.5 million in the fourth year.

Petersen made about $2.2 million at Boise State this past season.
