BYU key players: Sophomore QB Taysom Hill (6-2, 221 pounds) ran for 259 yards and three touchdowns in BYU’s 40-21 victory over Texas on Sept. 7. In BYU’s 47-46 victory over Houston on Oct. 19, he threw for 417 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 128 yards. … Sophomore RB Jamaal Williams ranks 10th on BYU’s career rushing list with 1,977 yards. He hasn’t lost a fumble in 371 career carries. … Junior RB Paul Lasike, an All-American rugby player for BYU, rushed for 101 yards on four carries against Notre Dame. …Senior WR Cody Hoffman (6-4, 210) holds the BYU all-time records for career receiving yards with 3,445, receptions with 248 and touchdown receptions with 33. … All-American senior LB Kyle Van Noy has 16 tackles for loss. … Senior LB Uani ‘Unga, a transfer from Oregon State, is tied for No. 2 nationally with 136 tackles this season.

BYU notes: BYU is one of six independent FBS teams, along with Army, Idaho, Navy, New Mexico State and Notre Dome. … The Cougars played one of their toughest schedules in program history, with victories over Texas, Houston and Boise State, and losses to Virginia, Utah, Wisconsin and Notre Dame. … BYU and UW have two common opponents this season — Boise State and Idaho State. The Huskies opened the season with a 38-6 victory at home over Boise State, then defeated Idaho State 56-0 three weeks later; BYU defeated the Broncos 37-20 in Provo on Oct. 25, then beat Idaho State 59-13 three weeks later. … The Cougars are 6-2 in bowl games under Mendenhall. No program in the country has won more bowl games over that time period. Last season, BYU defeated San Diego State 23-6 in the Poinsettia Bowl. … BYU is 70-120-6 all-time against Pac-12 opponents.
