Washington starting senior safety Will Shamburger is not with the team at the Fight Hunger Bowl after committing an unspecified violation of team rules, UW announced just before kickoff.

Shamburger, a senior, was sent home from San Francisco.

UW starting cornerback Marcus Peters has been suspended for the first quarter for an academic issue.

Redshirt freshman Brandon Beaver is scheduled to make his first start in Shamburger’s place. Senior Tre Watson will start in place of Peters.

True freshman Kevin King, Shamburger’s backup,┬áis out after having surgery on his left shoulder.
