The Pac-12 has yet to release the conference schedule for the 2014 football season; it released the conference schedule on Jan. 10 last year, so hopefully we’ll hear something official in the next week.
I mentioned this in our live chat on Friday, but it’s worth noting again that, according to a source, Washington has been promised that it won’t face Stanford and Oregon in back-to-back weeks in 2014, as was the case for UW in 2012 and 2013. The Huskies went 1-3 in those four weeks.
Here’s a brief look at what we know for UW’s 13-game regular-season schedule in 2014. The Pac-12 matchups should be the same as 2013, with home-road games flipping.
Aug. 30: at Hawaii
Sept. 6: vs. Eastern Washington
Sept. 13: vs. Illinois
Sept. 20: vs. Georgia State
UW’s Pac-12 matchups (listed in alphabetical order; dates to be announced):
vs. Oregon State
at Washington State
The nonconference schedule certainly looks favorable for Chris Petersen‘s debut season with the Huskies, and one wonders if not having Stanford-Oregon back to back will help UW avoid that dreaded three-game losing skid that has been a recurring issue since 2004. And the fact that the Huskies have five conference road games seems a little less daunting — on paper, anyway — because two of those will be against the worst teams in the Pac-12 in 2013, Cal and Colorado (though I would expect both to be improved next season).
Any bold predictions from you all on 2014?
