Three-star athlete Sidney Jones out of West Covina (Calif.) High intends to sign with Washington, Scout.com’s Greg Biggins reports.
Jones, listed at 6-feet-1 and 170 pounds, is UW’s 18th known commitment for the Class of 2014. It sounds like he could play either wide receiver or defensive back or UW, and is rated as a three-star recruit by Scout, 247sports and Rivals.
UPDATE: Wrapping up another busy recruiting day for UW, with quotes from Will Dissly.
Jones, who was previously committed first to San Jose State and then Utah, had visited UW over the weekend.
“I enjoyed it, it was a good trip,” Jones told Biggins on Sunday. “Going in to the visit, I was pretty locked in with Utah. To be honest, I was mostly thinking of this visit as a chance to just see something new but Washington really opened my eyes. They have a nice combination of football, academics and a great staff.
“The thing that stood out most was the coaching staff. The staff was real cool and I spent some quality time with Coach Petersen and especially Coach Lake, the DB coach. Brandon Beaver was my host and he showed me around and the whole campus and city of Seattle is really nice, I really enjoyed myself there.”
Below are Jones’ junior season highlights. Here are his senior highlights.
