If nothing else, a great excuse to show that awesome picture (above) again: The new $280 million Husky Stadium, unveiled during UW’s season-opening 38-6 victory over Boise State on Aug. 31, is one of 16 nominees for the 2013 world’s stadium of the year.
You can vote on the stadiums here. Voting ends Feb. 22.
A few links on this beautiful Seattle Wednesday morning:
- Bud Withers examines a common trend around the Pac-12: declining basketball attendance. The UW men’s basketball has had a 20-percent drop in attendance this season, second-biggest behind Washington State (41 percent).
- A good story on Camas offensive lineman Drew Clarkson, who overcame cancer and signed a scholarship offer with Oregon State.
- Ideally, the NCAA would like to track all concussions in college sports.
- The Huskies are clearly targeting linebackers early on for the Class of 2015, and they are the latest to offer a scholarship to Cameron Smith, one of the nation’s top linebacker recruit.
Just received a scholarship from Washington! Great way to start the day. #UDUB
