Washington senior nose tackle Danny Shelton has been named to the Sporting News preseason All-America team.

A two-year starter, Shelton was an honorable-mention all-Pac-12 selection in 2013. His best game might have been UW’s victory over BYU in the Fight Hunger Bowl, when he had seven tackles — six solo. He had 10 tackles, including one for loss, at UCLA, and finished the season with a career-high 59 tackles.

He added had two sacks and two blocked kicks in 2013 while playing through a shoulder injury that required surgery in January.

He also earned first-team all-academic honors in the Pac-12 last year.

Shelton is listed by CBSsports.com as the No. 3 tackle available for the 2015 NFL Draft.
