The Washington Huskies are ranked No. 25 in The Associated Press preseason poll released Sunday morning.
It’s UW’s first appearance in the AP preseason poll since 2003. The Huskies received 130 points in the poll of media members.
The Huskies begin the Chris Petersen era against Hawaii in Honolulu on Aug. 30
UW was 9-4 last season and finished 2013 ranked No. 25 in the AP poll, the first time the program had finished in the AP rankings since 2001.
This is the 29th time overall that Washington has been ranked in the AP preseason poll.
The Huskies are also ranked No. 25 in the preseason coaches’ poll.
Florida State, the defending national champion, is ranked No. 1 in the AP poll, followed by Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma and Ohio State.
The Pac-12 has six teams ranked in the AP poll. Also ranked from the Pac-12 are UCLA (7), Stanford (11), USC (15) and Arizona State (19).
