Here’s video (above) of Eastern Washington coach Beau Baldwin after the Eagle’s 59-52 loss to Washington at Husky Stadium.

And here’s a few quotes.

(General thoughts) “Our guys showed a lot of grit and a lot of fight. The thing that stands out to me is that you’re on the road in a Pac-12 stadium and things don’t go well early and you go down 21-0. To me the thing that I was most proud of was where we were at the start and fighting our way back to take the lead early in the third quarter. That says a lot about our mental makeup and our toughness. It would have taken just one or two plays there. It’s a good lesson in terms of turnover margin on both sides. We have to create turnovers and we have to take care of the ball.
(On team displaying depth) “It’s what we do. We have a lot of depth and a lot of guys. We play with a lot of speed and tempo and we play against teams liek this with a lot of speed and tempo. So you have to in this day and age of college football. The bye week comes at a good time. We’ve had two incredibly emotional games out of our first three, with a lot of plays being in run in this game and the first one. Bye week comes at a good time, but we’ll have our hands full going forward. The league is going to be tough.”

(On Vernon Adams’ gritty performance) “He’s just that way. He was to the point where he was cramping so bad that it was hard for him to even play in the third quarter. We were talking about an IV or not and he said no. He didn’t even have all his stuff in the third quarter and in the fourth quarter, he’s still finding a way. I’m very lucky to coach that young man for sure.”

(On positives the team can take after the loss) “I always find positives and things to work on whether we win or lose. So yes, there are a lot of good things that come out of this there’s no question. We’ll address those things and we’ll address the things we need to work on and then go forward.”

Here’s video (above) of Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. who completed 31 of 46 passes for 475 yards and seven touchdowns. He had more touchdowns than any UW opposing quarterback.

And here’s a few quotes.

(Thoughts on the game?) “We played good. We played together. We came up short and as an offense we have to hold onto the ball and can’t make any silly throws or get sacked in crucial situations.”

(Did you get hurt?) “I cramp easily. So that was all it was, but it got better.”

(How did you come back from a 21-0 deficit to begin the game?) “We just have to stay in and not get down on anyone and don’t point any fingers. We fought hard and got back into it. We just can’t make any little mistakes and we have to come back hard on our bye week next week.”

(Have you ever had a performance like this?) “As a team, we played good. I don’t care about the stats. We lost so it doesn’t matter to me. We played good as a whole. Unfortunately, we came up short.”

(Does throwing seven touchdown passes against Washington mean anything to you?) “I didn’t know it was seven, but yes it is a great honor. I wish we could have gotten the win. I would have went with zero touchdowns if it would have meant getting the win.”

Here’s video (above) of Eastern Washington receiver Cooper Kupp who had eight catches for 145 yards and three touchdowns.

Here’s a few quotes.

(On the game) “You feel like you fought and fought. You know a 21-0 deficit. I’m just so proud of all of these guys. No one ever said we were done. We just continued to battle and that says a lot about our team. You know it’s fun and football is fun.”

(How was it to face these Pac-12 athletes?) “It’s fun to go up against all these guys. You know for Vern, he played  against all these guys in high school so it’s fun for him. Being able to come out and play against these guys was awesome. I didn’t get the opportunity to go against these guys in high school. These games are always fun to see how you can match up.”

(Talk about Adams with seven touchdown.) “He continues to work. He has such passion for this game. He always wants to win. He’s a winner and we have taken on that attitude as a team.”

(Describe your first bomb.) “The play that (Coach Beau Baldwin) called, we just went out and executed. We just have to make sure we are doing our job and Vern put a great ball in the back of the end zone.”
