UW GAME DAY

Huskies (6-3, 2-3) vs. No. 18 UCLA (7-2, 4-2)
4 p.m. Saturday at Husky Stadium
TV: FOX Sports 1. Radio: KOMO AM-1000, FM-97.7.

GAME PREVIEW: Depleted Huskies hope to pull off upset.

LATEST LINE: UCLA is favored by 6 points.

WHAT A RUSH: UW remains second in the nation with 37 sacks in nine games, and senior Hau’oli Kikaha continues to lead the nation in sacks (15.5) and tackles for loss (21.5). That doesn’t bode well for a UCLA offense that ranks dead last in the Pac-12 and 119th in the nation in sacks allowed, with 29 in nine games.

TURNOVER BINGE: Midway through the season, the Huskies were No. 1 in the nation in turnover margin, having turned the ball over once in their first six games. In the three games since, UW has committed eight turnovers — six lost fumbles and two interceptions. QB Cyler Miles was credited with two lost fumbles in the win over Colorado last week, and he bobbled a couple other shotgun snaps.

TOP 25 WOES: The Huskies’ last victory over a ranked team was in the 2013 opener against Boise State. They have lost six straight to ranked team since. “You have to play a really good, clean game, and we haven’t done that. We haven’t done that,” UW coach Chris Petersen said. “We’ve turned the ball over too much, we haven’t hit enough big plays, those type of things. And that’s what has to happen. You’re not going to be able to go in there and play average football and beat one of these ranked teams.”

UW PLAYERS TO WATCH

QB Cyler Miles: 12 TD/1 INT
RB/LB Shaq Thompson: 7.9 yards per carry
LB John Timu: 68 tackles
CB Naijiel Hale: First career start

UCLA PLAYERS TO WATCH

QB Brett Hundley: 15 TD/4 INT
RB Paul Perkins: 1,074 yards
LB Eric Kendricks: 101 tackles
LB Myles Jack: 63 tackles
