First glance: Arizona Wildcats

First glance: No. 17 Arizona Wildcats

When/Where: 12:30 p.m. PT Saturday at Arizona Stadium.

Coach: Rich Rodriguez.

Coaching record: In his third year at Arizona he’s 23-12 overall and 12-12 in the Pac-12 with the Wildcats. Rodriguez, 51, has a 143-96-2 overall record during a 21-year career that includes stops at Michigan (15-22), West Virginia (60-26), Glenville State (43-28-2) and Salem (2-8).

Record: The Wildcats (7-2, 4-2) beat Colorado 38-20 last Saturday at Arizona Stadium.

Early line: Arizona is a 9-point favorite.

Star players: Sophomore linebacker Scoobie Wright (6-1, 246 pounds) is a semifinalist for the Lombardi and Nagurski awards. He’s second in the conference with 107 tackles. He also has five forced fumbles, 20.5 tackles for loss and 12 sacks, which is first, second and third in the Pac-12 respectively. Wright is the only Division I player who ranks among the top 20 in tackles, tackles for loss, sacks and forced fumbles. … Redshirt freshman quarterback Anu Solomon (6-2, 205) ranks third in the Pac-12 averaging 312.9 passing yards per game. He’s completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 25 touchdowns and five interceptions. Solomon has thrown a touchdown pass in every game this season. He also has 314 rushing yards. … Freshman running back Nick Wilson (5-10, 199) is fourth in the conference with a 95.4 rushing yards average. He has 763 yards and seven rushing touchdowns this season. Last week Wilson tallied 153 yards on 21 carries. … Third-year sophomore receiver Cayleb Jones (6-3, 215) has emerged as Arizona’s big-play threat in the passing game. Of his 53 receptions, 37 have resulted in a touchdown (8) or first down (29). He has 734 receiving yards. … Fifth-year senior safety Jared Tevis (5-11, 202) has developed a reputation as a hard hitter. He has 80 tackles, which is second on the team. … Senior center Steven Gurrola (6-2, 286) was named to the watch list for the Rimington Trophy, which is given to the nation’s best center. … Third-year sophomore Trey Griffey (6-3, 195), the oldest son of former Seattle Mariner Ken Griffey Jr., has 21 catches for 212 yards.
