This wasn’t easy, and I don’t envy the College Football Playoff committee having to choose two teams between Florida State, TCU, Baylor and Ohio State. Most seem to agree that Alabama and Oregon are the top two teams at this point. After that, those other four teams all have a strong case to be included in the first playoff.
I’ve gone with TCU here at No. 4 because I’ve thought for several weeks that the Horned Frogs might be the best team in the country. Yes, Baylor’s 61-58 victory over TCU on Oct. 11 is difficult to overlook — extremely difficult — and Baylor fans have a right be upset. Ohio State is playing as well as anyone right now, too, and I could certainly see a scenario where the committee includes the Buckeyes in the top four.
The CFP committee will announce its playoff selections at 9:30 a.m. Sunday on ESPN.
Here’s the AP ballot I submitted Saturday night:
- Florida State
- Ohio State
- Mississippi State
- Michigan State
- Georgia Tech
- Kansas State
- Ole Miss
- Arizona State
- Boise State
