A potential first-round NFL draft pick, Washington junior star Shaq Thompson says he will talk with his family over the Christmas break before making any formal decisions about whether to enter the draft after this season.
“Just sitting down with my family and Coach Pete and some of the coaches and just think about it,” he said after practice Tuesday. “We’ll see. I don’t know. I’m just focused on this last game and going to see my family.”
Thompson earned first-team All-America honors as an all-purpose player from The Associated Press on Tuesday. He was joined by teammates Danny Shelton and Hau’oli Kikaha, the first time UW has had three players on the AP first team.
“It feels good. We were just talking about that walking in here — ‘Ah man, we made history,” Thompson said. “But like I said, our mindset is, we’ve got one more game to win. Then we can be happy about all the goals and accomplishments we’ve made.”
The Huskies have four more practices over the next five days before taking a break for the holiday. They will then meet up in Arizona after Christmas ahead of the Jan. 2 TicketCity Cactus Bowl against Oklahoma State.
