Husky Men's Basketball

The latest news and analysis on Husky men's hoops.

Another new Husky

Just got off the phone with Darnell Gant who confirmed that he has committed to the University of Washington.
He said he sent his papers in this morning, though as of this posting, there was nothing official yet from the school.
Gant, a forward from Crenshaw High in Los Angeles, said he felt UW “was where God was leading me to go. I felt it was the best place for me. I just liked the coaches and the players and everything about it.”
Here’s a profile of Gant from Rivals.com.
Gant had also been seriously considering Oregon and Nevada.
Asked to give a quick scouting report on himself, he said “I’m a 6-9 guy who can shoot the long ball and has the ability to play the three [small forward] and maybe play the two [shooting guard] if I work hard enough at it. It’s rare that you have a 6-9 kid in college who could possibly play the two.”
UPDATE – I should make it clear that when Gant said the above comment, it was under the assumption that he’s listed as a power forward. So he was saying that while he’s generally considered a power forward, he “has the ability” to play the three and maybe the two, etc.
Gant will become the third member of the Class of 2007.
We’ll break down the roster a little later.
