Monday morning mishmash

First, here’s a link to our coverage from last night’s game, in case you missed it.
I’ll specifically point out the quote from Jon Brockman about playing with Spencer Hawes for years on the AAU circuit. At least one of you mentioned that they already looked like they’d been playing together for years — that’s because they have.
I think that relationship could go a long way toward making this team come together more quickly than its youth might suggest.
As for Dentmon, I thought he was fine last night. Sure, he had four turnovers in 26 minutes and the team had way too many at 24. But some of that was also due to the nature of the game. Pepperdine trapped all over the place and tried to make it as up-tempo as possible. I’d expect those TO numbers to come down quite a bit the next two nights against teams that don’t play quite as frantically.
Finally, I hate to ruin the mood by linking to a story about Oregon. But I honestly can’t wait to see Tajuan Porter play. He’s listed at 5-6 in the Oregon media guide and he’s off to just an incredible start. He had 38 points yesterday against Portland State and earned a comparision to Nate Robinson by former UW assistant coach Ken Bone, who is now the head coach at PSU.
He was a high school teammate of Malik Hairston and I thought the rumbling in some circles was that Oregon signed him just to keep Hairston happy. Guess not.
If he keeps it up, I’m wondering how long it will be before they start calling Mac Court the Porter House.
And while it’s just Portland State, Oregon lost to them at home last year, so the Ducks look like they may indeed be a different team this season.
