Appleby goes off

The first half was all about Ryan Appleby.
The junior guard came off the bench to score 21 points in the first half — already a career-high, besting the 18 points he scored against Loyola-Marymount last year.
He’s hit 5-6 three-pointers, and they came just in time as UW looked sluggish early — eight turnovers before the game was barely six minutes old. But UW is now in control, having also gotten a career-high-tying 10 points from Phil Nelson.
Thanks to those two, UW is in control at 49-37 at halftime.
Interestingly, SUU is just 1-5 from the 3-point line as the Huskies are doing a good job of taking away what appeared to be the team’s biggest strength.
