LSU’s Martin eligible

There was one bit of LSU news today from head coach John Brady as he met the media after the Tigers practiced at Edmundson Pavilion.
Brady said sophomore guard Terry Martin, a transfer from Texas Tech, will be eligible for Wednesday’s game and will play.
Here’s a bio of Martin, a 6-6 guard who averaged 7.4 points and averaged 24 minutes a game for Texas Tech last year before deciding to transfer after 14 games, starting eight. He’s been practicing with the Tigers but hadn’t been eligible pending the posting of his final grades.
Brady said Martin was expected to fly to Seattle Monday night to join the team here in time for the game.
“I’m hoping he can add some perimeter scoring for us, that’s what he’s been doing in practice,” Brady said. “But he hasn’t played in a year. He’s been practicing with us but he hasn’t played and this isn’t a great place to come in and take your training wheels off to play this type of a team in this type of an environment. But you got to throw him out there at some point. … He’s definitely going to get in the game and get his feet wet.”
Here’s a story from the Shreveport Journal that has some good background on Martin’s potential impact.
You’ll see from looking at LSU’s stats that the Tigers have typically been playing only eight players more than 10 minutes a game, so Martin will provide some depth.
The Tigers arrived in Seattle today after busing from Corvallis. The ride was apparently longer than expected as they fell into traffic just outside Corvallis.
