LSU on tap

It’s about three-and-a-half hours before tip off of one of UW’s most anticipated non-conference, non-Gonzaga games in quite a while. Given the presence of Glen “Big Baby” Davis, I think this is a bigger deal than the NC State game a few years ago.
Here’s my preview story from today which focuses on how the game came about. I’m among the vast majority who wish they’d get it figured out to keep playing Gonzaga every year.
On the other hand, there’s no doubt that scheduling is a complicated deal, especially during the non-conference season when holidays and working around finals weeks limits the number of days. I always hear people say “why don’t they just schedule Duke or North Carolina” or whoever. Well, that team has to want to come here to make it work as the Huskies have made it clear they no longer want to schedule teams that won’t make return trips to Seattle. And the Huskies have earned the right to make that sort of request with their success of the last few years.
As today’s story points out, this game might not have happened if UW president Mark Emmert, who formerly worked at LSU, helped broker the deal.
Here, also, is a list of odds for tonight’s game, most of which show UW favored by a point.
