Hawes Player of Week

The Huskies practiced this morning as they renew preparations for the Pac-10 opener Thursday at USC.
Two quick news notes from practice — Spencer Hawes was named the conference player of the week and Quincy Pondexter sat out practice this morning after suffering a mild concussion against Weber State. UW coach Lorenzo Romar said Pondexter suffered the concussion in the first half but didn’t know what it was until he finally said something in the second half, and then sat out the end of the game, with the official diagnosis coming afterward.
But Romar said he expects Pondexter to return to practice Wednesday and be able to play against USC. Pondexter scored six points in 22 minutes against Weber State
Hawes scored 46 points and had 21 rebounds in UW’s wins over LSU and Weber State last week. He is the first UW player to be named a Player of the Week this season.
