At the Galen Center

It’s about a half hour before tipoff and I’ve had a chance to look around the Galen Center, USC’s new on-campus arena.
To say it’s an upgrade from the Sports Arena is to say that Alaska is colder than the equator — there is just no comparison. In fact, this rivals any arena in the conference now for comfort with plush seats, lots of room on the concourses, etc.
Once tipoff comes, we’ll get a chance to see what kind of atmosphere there is here. Despite the new arena, USC hasn’t been drawing real well, averaging just 3,209 for nine home games. A weak non-conference schedule has had a lot to do with that — South Carolina is about the best non-conference opponent USC has played at home.
There figures to be at least double that tonight, however.
One Husky note — Quincy Pondexter has recovered from his concussion and will start for UW tonight. He sat out practice on Tuesday as a precaution but returned Wednesday.
As always, feel free to leave game comments here. Glad to hear that a lot of you have figured out ways to see this one on TV.
