Brockman to try out for Pan American Team

Had a chance to talk with Jon Brockman today for some stuff that I’ll hopefully get on the blog soon.
But one thing he said I wanted to pass along immediately is that he will try out for the United States Pan American Games Team later this summer.
Tryouts for the team will be held July 12-14 at Haverford College in Haverford, Pa. If Brockman makes the team, he will then play July 25-29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Here’s a fact sheet on the Pan-Am Games explaining that the games are held every four years in the year prior to the Olympics and include teams from North, South, and Central America and the Caribbean.
Here, also, is a schedule.
And here is a list of coaches, showing Villanova’s Jay Wright as the head coach.
Brockman was an All-Pac-10 player as a sophomore for UW last season.
UPDATE — As one reader noted, Washington State’s Derrick Low and Kyle Weaver have also been invited to try out for the Pan Am team. Here’s a story on that with some more details on the process.
The story says 35 players have been invited and 12 will make the final team so it figures to be pretty competitive.
