Are you watching NBA Finals?

As I was reading yet another story about the declining TV ratings for the NBA Finals, I thought it might be interesting to ask the loyal readers of this space whether any of you are watching the Cavs and Spurs.
Have to admit I haven’t been, other than the last five or so minutes of Game Three last night switching back and forth from the M’s game after finally walking in the door.
It’s not really on purpose. Though I cover college basketball, I’ve always liked the NBA just fine — the first pro sporting event I ever attended was a Sonics game in 1970 and I have great memories of following the league in that era.
But as I suspect is the case with a lot of others, there’s nothing compelling me to make sure I get home in time to watch any of this series.
But I admit I actually have a little trouble figuring out why.
LeBron James is obviously exciting to watch, and the Cavs are a nice underdog story as they attempt to become the first team from their city to win a pro title since 1964.
And while the Spurs are darn methodical in their approach, you have to respect their greatness — they are about to become the unquestioned team of the decade. And if you’re one of those who say you don’t like the NBA because no one plays the game the way it should, you can’t say that about the Spurs, whose key players — notably Tim Duncan — are about as fundamentally sound as they come (I always marvel at his bankshot).
But something’s just missing right now, that something that says you’ve just got to watch this.
I’d be curious to hear what you think.
