Hawes to the Kings

The Sacramento Kings just picked Spencer Hawes with the 10th pick of the first round of the draft, seeming to justify his decision to leave early.
It struck me as funny, however, that since Hawes’ UW legacy may be that the Huskies lost to Washington State three times in his lone season (granted, he only played in two of those games) that ESPN seemed to show almost nothing but highlights against the Cougars.
Kind of wish ESPN would have asked Hawes about being picked by the Kings instead of the same old questions we’ve heard a million times about his athleticism. Hawes gave the same old answer, that “it’s still a game of skill” in the end and that he thinks the rebounding and athleticism will come as he matures.
Hawes will likely get a two-year guaranteed contract worth at least $1.6 million.
I know Hawes wasn’t the most popular topic on this board the last few weeks, but if you’ve got some thoughts, post them here.
We’ll have more later, including some comments from Hawes.
