Dickie V. ranks Huskies 34th

Here are the bottom 30 teams in Dick Vitale’s pre-season top 40, and he has the Huskies at No. 34.
Vitale makes this comment “Jon Brockman leads the way as Lorenzo Romar wonders what would have been if Spencer Hawes came back.”
I honestly don’t think Romar will spend more than about 10 seconds ever wondering that since I don’t think the coaches ever really thought he was coming back, hence the “over recruiting” of last season.
I also note that Vitale is also ranking UW as at least No. 6 in the Pac-10. Of the picks we can see, he has four other conference teams ranked ahead of UW — Stanford (13), Washington State (16), USC (17) and Arizona (28).
He obviously has to have UCLA somewhere in the top 10. And guess I’m not sure about Oregon. Some people do have Oregon pretty high so maybe Vitale does too.
If he doesn’t have the Ducks there, he would be one of the first I’ve seen placing the Huskies ahead of Oregon.
MORRIS POSTCARD: And as others have mentioned, here’s Tim Morris’ postcard from Greece. You’ll see Morris wasn’t all that impressed with Athens, an honesty that is actually kind of refreshing for these kinds of things.
UW will be back in action on Monday.
