Reviewing last night

In case you missed it in the post below, here’s my story from last night’s game focusing on UCLA’s defensive efforts on Ryan Appleby, which seemed to pretty much limit UW’s offense to Jon Brockman, who himself was under double coverage much of the night.
Here’s the notebook with some info on the change in the starting lineup.
Here’s the LA Daily News take on the game focusing on the loss of Darren Collison to injury and what that could mean for tomorrow’s showdown with Washington State. The LA Times wrote it similarly as did the Orange County Register.
If there’s any consolation for UW it’s that tomorrow’s opponent, USC, is having a lot of problems of their own. The Trojans dropped to 0-3 in Pac-10 play last night with a loss at home to Washington State, a game in which heralded freshman Davon Jefferson didn’t play, apparently for disciplinary reasons. Here’s the LA Daily News report on that game and one from the LA Times. As you can see, USC coach Tim Floyd said Jefferson, USC’s second-leading scorer at 11.9, will play against the Huskies.
The games in Oregon went about as you’d figure —- Oregon held off Cal at home 79-70 getting 20 points each from Bryce Taylor and Malik Hairston, while Stanford blitzed Oregon State 66-48 as the Beavers were 17-56 from the floor and 0-8 on three-pointers. C.J. Giles again fouled out, but started and played 22 minutes and was praised for his defensive effort.
