Handling Stanford

The Stanford Cardinal arrives in Seattle Thursday as one of the hottest teams in the Pac-10, carrying a 16-3 overall record and 5-2 in Pac-10 play, behind only UCLA.
But Cardinal coach Trent Johnson says none of that matters this week.
“The only thing I know is every time we’ve gone to Seattle, we’ve gotten completely handled,” Johnson said.
Indeed the Huskies have had their way with the Cardinal in Seattle of late, winning the last five. That streak began in Lorenzo Romar’s first year as head coach and includes the memorable win to end the 2004 regular season that ended Stanford’s hopes of an undefeated Pac-10 season.
And one of UW’s best wins of last season was a 64-52 win over the Cardinal in Seattle.
Romar, as might be expected of a coach, equally downplayed the streak, noting that UW had beaten ASU 10 times before going to Tempe last week, saying all that mattered once the game started is that the Sun Devils “are a lot better” this year.
