Morris perseveres

Tim Morris’ first game against his former Stanford teammates last week made for a good story.
And when Morris went just 2-7 and scored four points in 16 minutes it was easy to conclude that maybe he had been trying too hard.
But what Morris hadn’t told anyone is that he was also playing with a sore Achilles, something that has bothered him all season but that he said flared up more than usual for the two Bay Area games.
“It’s been bothering me since we went to Greece,” he said. “It kind of flared up on me a little bit last weekend and was bothering me the last two games.”
But he said the day off Monday helped and said on Tuesday that it should be “no problem now.”
UW coach Lorenzo Romar said he doesn’t think there’s any question the injury was a factor in Morris’ play last weekend — he combined for just six points and four rebounds in the two defeats.
“Tim is one of those that if something is wrong, he tends to focus on it,” Romar said. “So it could bother him more mentally (than it might other players).”
Morris has been a starter and is likely to retain that role, though Romar said the lineup could change.
Asked if the lineup would stay the same, Romar said “I think so, but don’t be surprised if it changes.”
