Husky Men's Basketball

The latest news and analysis on Husky men's hoops.

Friday morning links

Pass along first my game story from last night, the theme of which was another tough loss at Stanford, but which also left the Huskies feeling there’s still some reason for hope this season.
The notebook has a lead item on Joe Wolfinger, who tied a career-high with 12 points.
— The San Francisco Chronicle quotes Stanford coach Trent Johnson as saying that “boy. we weren’t very good. This is the third game in a row in which we were out-physicalled.”
— The San Jose Mercury News also focuses on Johnson’s lament that the Cardinal isn’t playing as well as it should right now.
Stanford guard Mitch Johnson tells the Stanford Daily that the Cardinal got caught worrying too much about the refs at times.
— The Huskies play Saturday at Cal against a Bears team that scored a season-low 49 points against WSU Thursday night.
— Some of the comments by Bears players in this story sound a lot like what the Huskies have too often said — that they wished they’d play more often like it was the most important game of the season. Also in this story is the news that Cal swingman Patrick Christopher hurt his hip and might not play against the Huskies. He’s the guy who hit the three-pointer at the end of the game in Seattle that essentially won the game for the Bears.
— The San Francisco Chronicle also has some details on Christopher’s injury.
— The Cal student newspaper today has this column saying that the Bears’ basketball program is again stuck in neutral.
— Finally, future Husky Isaiah Thomas scored 40 points Wednesday night as South Kent defeated Bridgton Academy 90-80 in a first-round playoff game. South Kent plays another game tonight against Brewster Academy.
