News around the Pac-10

A lot of interesting stuff out there today so we’ll get right to it:
—- Oregon State is apparently narrowing its field of candidates for a new head coach and may have settled on either Bill Grier of San Diego or Randy Bennett of Saint Mary’s, according to this from the Corvallis Gazette-Times. That’s an interesting choice between a longtime Gonzaga assistant (Grier) and a longtime friend of UW coach Lorenzo Romar (Bennett). Portland State coach Ken Bone, a former UW assistant, is not mentioned.
John Canzano of the Oregonian has more on the OSU search, calling Grier and Bennett the two leading candidates.
Jeff Faurado of InsideBayArea.com analyzes how the Randy Bennett situation may impact the Cal coaching search.
— Here’s more from Jon Wilner on the departure of Brook and Robin Lopez from Stanford.
— The San Francisco Chronicle also has more on the Lopez twins.
Arizona coach Lute Olson is scheduled to hold his first press conference today since returning as coach and may also address the futures of Jerryd Bayless and Chase Budinger.
Taylor King, who is leaving Duke, may consider Gonzaga as his next home.
— As noted earlier, UW assistant Cameron Dollar is scheduled to interview for the head coaching job at Sacramento State today.
