More from media day

Here are a few day-after takes on Pac-10 media day. …
— First. here’s my main story for today’s paper, focusing on the changing nature of the league this season. And here’s my notebook, with one note on each team.
— Oregon State coach Craig Robinson and his Barack Obama connection was a popular subject, as well.
Here’s a story from USA Today, another from the San Francisco Chronicle, another from the San Jose Mercury News, and another from the LA Times.
— Indeed, Robinson got off the line of the day when he said that Obama had never played against him one-on-one in basketball, which he said showed “he knows exactly what he is doing.” As the stories note, Robinson said that Obama is truly a lefty. “If you stop him from going left, he will pick it up and shoot,” Robinson said.
— Robinson, by the way, has got to be 6-5 or so, looming these days as the largest of the Pac-10 coaches.
Anthony Gimino of the Tucson Citizen writes that interim UA coach Russ Pennell handled himself well.
— The Riverside Press-Enterprise writes that UCLA coach Ben Howland is worried about his depth. Guess you’ve got to find something to worry about when you’re a coach.
— The first two teams in action in public exhibition games are Oregon and Oregon State, which each play at home Sunday night.
— I’ll try to chip in later with some thoughts on all 10 teams.
